Things can really heat up in July and we have a great summer cooking class series for kids! Summer Cooking Savvy – The Art of Baking Series will be held on Friday mornings in July from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 on the following dates: July 12, 19, & 26. Kids aged 12 through 16 are invited to this free series for some summer kitchen fun and hands-on experience in the kitchen. Participants will make a new recipe at each session that they will get to eat at the end of class!
This year’s theme is “The Art of Baking” and teens will make Quick Breads, Cookies, Cakes, Pies, and Cobblers. Baking is an art that allows you to combine special ingredients to create delicious and nutritious foods with various tastes and textures. They will also learn measuring skills, how to read recipes, and how to read nutrition labels.
Class size is limited to 8, and advanced registration is required by July 5th. Parents should come in to check their child in and to sign a permission form, but are not required to stay. All classes are taught by Grayson County Nutrition Education Program Assistant, Robin Felix. To get signed up or for questions, call the Extension Office at (270) 259-3492. You should park in the back of the building and enter in the West entrance door.
