Grayson County Ministerial Association and Fiscal Court would like to encourage everyone to join them for observance of the 72nd NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER on Thursday, May 4th at noon. The event will be held on the steps of the Judicial Center located on Carrol Gibson Blvd.
The National Day of Prayer was created and signed into law in 1952 by President Truman. Each year since then our president has called upon the citizens of our nation to pray. The National Day of Prayer is in place to remind us of the way in which our founders sought the wisdom of God when faced with critical challenges and decisions. It stands as a call for us to humbly come before God, seeking His guidance for our leaders and His grace upon us as a people.
Here in Grayson County, we are fortunate that our local government officials’ partner with the Ministerial Association to make this a community event. Local youth choirs, band and students have always been a very important part of the event according to Chester Shartzer, President of GCMA. “We are blessed here that our Fiscal Court and schools want to be apart of this annual event”.
A short ceremony will take place starting at noon and will conclude with a large prayer circle around the flag pole. The event will be wrapped up by a free meal on the yawn of the courthouse provided by fiscal court. Make plans to come out and pray for our nation and show that we stand for “one nation under God”.
