The Grayson County Extension Office is hosting another class series, “Healthy Farm Families”. This educational class series will provide useful, tangible tools and resources to help you and your family stay on top of your health on the farm. This is the second class in the series and focuses on sun and heat safety. Extreme heat and lots of sun exposure can cause big problems, but the job must get done, right? Farming waits for no one, but to ensure you are around to tend to the crops and livestock, you have to take care of yourself! That includes knowing the signs and symptoms of heat related illnesses such as heat stroke and heat exhaustion. The risk of skin cancer increases with sun exposure as well. What can you do to help prevent these from happening to you and your family? Come find out how to prevent heat related illnesses on the farm, what to look for, and what treatment options are. All classes will be held at the Grayson County Extension Office at 5:00 p.m., CST, at their office at 64 Quarry Road in Leitchfield. Advanced registration is required by calling the Extension Office at (270) 259-3492 or on the website at www.graysonext.org on the link provided.
