Four Grayson County High School juniors have been selected for the prestigious Governor’s Scholars Program (GSP).

Nolan Rister, Tessa Blain, Layla Lacefield, and Abigail Schlosser were selected for the 2025 Governor’s Scholars Program. They join a class of only 1,050 students chosen from a statewide applicant pool of well over 1,600 juniors, according to the school district.

The highly competitive process is based on a 40-plus page application highlighting academic merit, community service contributions, and individual honors across all areas of their school and personal lives.

They will spend five weeks of Summer 2025 at one of the three GSP campus locations: Centre College, Morehead State University or Murray State University.

“The Governor’s Scholars Program strives to enhance Kentucky’s next generation of civic and economic leaders,” the program’s website states. “Established in 1983, the program provides academic and personal growth through the balance of a strong liberal arts and sciences program with a full co-curricular and residential life experience. Students must complete an application and compete with others from across the state. Those selected attend the program free of charge.”
