An alleged Leitchfield drug dealer has been busted with “several ounces of methamphetamine,” cocaine and a large amount of cash after running from police.
The Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force and Leitchfield Police Department arrested 33-year-old Mercedes Lynn Goldsmith on Thursday afternoon at 3:35 after she fled on foot from officers in the 100 block of Claggett Drive, according to the arrest citation.
An officer quickly caught Goldsmith and took her to the ground.
“Following a brief struggle with (Goldsmith) … she attempted to remove a plastic container to dispose of the narcotics inside,” police wrote in the citation.
During a search, officers located “several ounces of methamphetamine, multiple sets of digital scales, several empty plastic baggies and $2,067 in US currency,” according to the citation. Police also located 4.4 grams of cocaine in Goldsmith’s “property.”
She was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), tampering with physical evidence, fleeing or evading police (on foot), and possession of drug paraphernalia, and lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
Goldsmith, who absconded from parole, was also served with two parole violation warrants following her conviction in Grayson County in October 2021 on two counts of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), receiving stolen property (more than $500, less than $10,000), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and tampering with physical evidence.
She was paroled on September 28, 2023, according to the Kentucky Parole Board.
