A woman was arrested after driving her vehicle into a garage and pushing another vehicle into a playroom before fleeing the scene.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrested 25-year-old Emily F. Coomer, of Monticello, Wednesday night at approximately 9:00 and charged her with five counts of felony wanton endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident (failure to render aid or assistance), first-degree criminal mischief, and a traffic violation.

Coomer’s arrest came after she was driving on Hwy 90 when her vehicle left the road and drove into a garage, pushing the resident’s vehicle into a playroom, and fleeing the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.

There were three children and two adults inside the home when the crash occurred.

While en route to the scene, deputies observed a vehicle fitting the description of the fleeing vehicle. Police conducted a traffic stop and verified it was the vehicle involved.

“The homeowner arrived at the traffic stop location and verified this was the correct vehicle as well,” the sheriff’s office said.

Coomer was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
