Bring out the broom: GCHS Family, Career & Community Leaders of American sweep first place finishes at region comp

The Grayson County High School Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter dominated the recent Region 5 competition.

The school district said the chapter’s students swept first place honors in their respective disciplines, sending all the competitors to the State Leadership Conference in Louisville next month.

The first-place finishers were:

  • Abigail Hall — Career Investigations Level 2
  • Addy Porter — Career Investigations Level 3
  • Julian Blakeman — Modified Career Investigations
  • Chloe Shartzer — Early Childhood Education Level 3
  • Brooklyn Aubrey — Nutrition and Wellness Level 2
  • Lila Riggs — Public Policy Advocate Level 3
  • Ava Hayes — Say Yes to FCS Level 3
  • Donovan Heady — Teaching Strategies Level 3

FCCLA is a national Career and Technical Student Organization for students in Family and Consumer Sciences education in public and private schools,” the organization’s website states. “FCCLA offers intra-curricular resources and opportunities for students to pursue careers that support families. Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers, and communities by addressing important personal, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education.”
