Special needs teacher tells student he has ‘nasty germs,’ hits 2 students in head with yoga ball

A special education teacher in Oldham County has been arrested on harassment and criminal abuse charges after telling a special needs student that he has “nasty germs” and assaulting two other students with disabilities.

Jamison Woods, 26, a special education teacher at Oldham County High School, is accused of demonstrating Crisis Prevention Intervention holds on a 15-year-old student with autism “for no justified reason,” according to the Herald-Leader.

The student then asked for a hug from Woods, who allegedly told the student no, “You have nasty germs.”

The student again the asked Woods for a hug when she sprayed the boy in the face with an spray cleaner, moving the can around the boy’s face as she sprayed.

Two days later, Woods is accused of throwing a yoga ball at two students — one a mentally disabled 15-year-old, the other a 14-year-old with several disabilities – striking both students in the head, the Herald-Leader reports.

Woods was charged with first-degree criminal abuse, second-degree official misconduct and two counts of harassment with physical contact. She turned herself into authorities on Thursday but has since been released from the Oldham County Detention Center.

Oldham County Schools released the following statement:

“We were made aware of allegations involving a teacher at OCHS back in late January. The teacher was immediately removed from the school and placed on leave while an investigation, led by OCPD, took place. The teacher has not been back on campus since the allegations were brought forward. We continue to cooperate with the ongoing investigation and are committed to the safety and well-being of our students, while respecting the privacy of those involved.”
