Body found next to burned vehicle in Taylor Co. that of Oldham Co. teen

A body found near a burned vehicle in Taylor County has been identified as an Oldham County teenager.

The body of 17-year-old Nathan Matthew Hammond, a junior at Oldham County High School, was discovered next to a burned vehicle on the afternoon of February 28 on Gaddis Ridge Road, approximately 10 miles east of Campbellsville, Kentucky State Police said.

The body was transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. A cause of death, though, has not yet been released.

The Kentucky State Police investigation is ongoing.

An excerpt from Nathan’s obituary reads: “With a gentle spirit and kind heart, Nathan was generous, had a passion for reading and excelled in academics at Oldham County High School where he was in his junior year. Nathan enjoyed playing Dungeons and Dragons, board games, and was an accomplished chess player. He also found joy in attending the Renaissance Fair and held a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.”
