A suspect has been charged in the stabbing death of an 81-year-old Ohio County woman.
The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office said Aaron Hunter Crowe Jr., 23, of Powderly, was indicted by an Ohio County Grand Jury on murder, first-degree burglary, tampering with physical evidence, and persistent felony offender charges in the death of Norma June Greenwell (her obituary lists her name as “June (Williams) Greenwell”).
Ohio County Sheriff Adam Wright said when Greenwell’s body was discovered that she had likely died the day before she was found, and that she was targeted by someone she knew.
Crowe, according to the Ohio County Jail, has been lodged in that facility since the day after Greenwell’s body was found. He’s being held on a $1 million cash bond.
Multiple agencies assisted with the investigation, including the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, The Owensboro Police Department Crime Scene Unit, the Henderson County Fire Department, and Kentucky State Police.
