
Bobbye Ann Bird, 87, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, at the home of her daughter. Bobbye was born in Louisville, KY, the cherished daughter of Mary and James Sutton.
From a young age, Bobbye had a zest for life that was contagious. She enjoyed roller skating and swimming, famously swimming across the Ohio River in a local competition. As a teenager, Bobbye worked part-time at Louisville’s Fountain Ferry Park, where she met Herman Gordon Bird, her devoted husband of 69 years.
Bobbye loved the outdoors, and spent her time boating, fishing, and avidly reading. She found great joy in sharing these passions with her family. Bobbye retired from GE Appliance Park in Louisville, KY, after many dedicated years of service.
Bobbye is survived by her loving husband Herman Gordon Bird, her daughter Cathy Ollom and son-in-law Richard Ollom, her son William Bird and daughter-in-law Becky Bird, her sister Susan Tabb, her grandchildren Lea Hannah and Wesley Ollom, and her great-grandchildren Madison, Mayzee, and Anthony.
She is preceded in death by her beloved son, Robert G. Bird.
Bobbye’s life was a testament to love, strength, and the joy of simple pleasures. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
A private family service will be held to celebrate Bobbye’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bobbye’s name to a charity of your choice.
