A state representative from Breckinridge County has co-sponsored a bill that would allow prosecutors to seek homicide charges against women who receive abortions.
House Bill 523, sponsored by state Rep. Josh Calloway, R-Irvington, and state Rep. Richard White, R-Morehead, would “allow a prosecution where the victim is an unborn child; (but) provide exceptions for spontaneous miscarriages and lawful medical procedures.”
The proposed measure further states, in part: “Unless specifically provided otherwise, in a prosecution under this chapter where the victim is an unborn child, enforcement shall be subject to the same legal principles as would apply to the homicide of a person who had been born alive …”
The bill was filed on Thursday.
