A Glendale fire truck was struck while responding to an emergency on I-65.

The incident occurred Wednesday morning at approximately 8:00 near the 81-miler marker of the southbound interstate while the area was receiving a combination of snow, rain and sleet.

“Just after stopping at the 81 mile marker southbound to check on a vehicle off the roadway, our apparatus was struck by a spinning passenger car in the rear corner and again near the front door of the cab,” the Glendale Fire Department said in a social media post.

No one was injured in the incident, but the fire department said firefighters had just arrived on scene and were about to leave the fire truck when it was struck.

“This was a very close call as our crew was preparing to exit the truck when it was hit. Please slow down and drive for the conditions, watch out for emergency vehicles.”
