A Leitchfield man has been accused of strangling and striking a woman while threatening to kill the victim.
The Leitchfield Police Department arrested 20-year-old Troy K. Stewart Sunday morning at approximately 1:20 at Parkway Villa apartments (popularly known as Penner Apartments).
According to the arrest citation, Stewart strangled the female using both hands as he pushed the victim against a wall. Police said the victim displayed “red markings on both sides of her neck consistent with strangulation.”
He is also accused of striking the female “multiple times,” the citation states, as well as tearing up her clothing.
Additionally, as the alleged assault was taking place, Stewart attempted to stop the female from calling 911 by taking her phone and threatening to kill the victim.
Leitchfield police responded to the apartment after Central Dispatch received four 911 “hang up calls,” where the dispatcher could hear a woman asking for help, according to the citation.
Stewart was charged with second-degree strangulation, a class D felony, fourth-degree assault, third-degree terroristic threatening, and intimidating a participant in the legal process.
He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
