A man traveling nearly 90 miles per hour on I-165 in Butler County has been arrested on drug charges.
The Morgantown Police Department was conducting “stationary radar enforcement” on I-165 when police observed a vehicle traveling at 89 mph, according to Morgantown Police Chief Giles Taylor. When police attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver, 31-year-old Jason McGregor, of Princeton, fled into Morgantown.
A traffic stop was conducted on South Main Street, where authorities confirmed McGregor’s driver’s license had permanently revoked due to prior felony offenses, Taylor said.
McGregor was arrested and initially charged with fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle) along with multiple traffic offenses.
A search warrant was then executed on McGregor’s vehicle, where officers discovered methamphetamine, a glass pipe containing suspected methamphetamine, suspected methamphetamine shards on the driver’s seat, and additional drug paraphernalia throughout the vehicle, according to Taylor.
McGregor was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).
He was lodged in the Butler County Jail.
McGregor, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections, was convicted in Caldwell County in March 2022 of trafficking in methamphetamine, fleeing or evading police, felony wanton endangerment, and theft by unlawful taking (motor vehicle).
He is on parole until December 12, 2027.
