There will be a one-week delay on major bridge work scheduled to begin on a span that connects Grayson and Breckinridge counties.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 4 spokesman Chris Jessie said the bridge on Brandenburg Road (Hwy 259) that connects Grayson and Breckinridge counties (Eveleigh bridge) will be closed for up to 120 days as “a full bridge deck replacement project” takes place.

The work, originally slated to begin today (Monday, February 10), has been pushed back to Monday, February 17. The rainy, possibly snowy, weather forecast for this week is responsible for delaying the work, Jessie said.

A signed detour will be in place recommending motorists enter Breckinridge County using the bridge on Lilac Road (Hwy 737) at Peter Cave.

Signs will also be placed on approaches to Eveleigh bridge to alert local traffic of the upcoming closure, according to Jessie.
