A fugitive from Leitchfield has been arrested after a vehicle was found on the side of the road with its blinker on.
The incident began on Friday night at approximately 10:00 when a caller reported to Central Dispatch that there was a car on the side of Claggett Road with a blinker on and no one around the vehicle.
The investigation showed the vehicle belonged to a man law enforcement has been looking for, 39-year-old Jeremiah L. Thompson.
Police searched the area for Thompson without success. Then, at approximately 11:10 p.m., Deputy Caleb Owens, who remained in the area looking for Thompson, spotted the suspect driving in the 3000 block of Owensboro Road near Ray Priddy Road. Owens conducted a traffic stop and arrested Thompson.
He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
Grayson County Deputy Joel Baker and Leitchfield Police Officers Erik Franklin and Chuck Hoover assisted in the investigation.
Thompson absconded from parole, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections, after being convicted in Grayson County in March 2023 for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
His parole supervision began in 2007 after Thompson was convicted in Grayson County for flagrant non-support. Additionally, he was convicted twice in 2015 for unknown out-of-state crimes, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections.
