A man is being held on a $500,000 bond after police discovered he had been living with his deceased wife for over a week.
On Monday, the Highland Heights Police Department said officers responded to an apartment in the 300 block of Grey Stable Lane on the report of an unresponsive female. When police arrived, they discovered 37-year-old Laura Hern deceased on her bed. Based on the decay of the body, police determined she had been dead for at least a week.
Hern’s husband, Tyler Hern, was arrested and charged with abuse of a corpse, police said.
Tyler Hern, according to WKYT.com, had been using his wife’s cellphone to text relatives in an attempt to hide her death.
Laura Hern’s cause of death has yet to be determined.
The suspect was lodged in the Campbell County Detention Center.
The investigation is ongoing.
