Mary Lue Brooks Filburn, age 77, of Leitchfield, passed away Monday, (February 3, 2025) at
Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield, KY. She was born on September 2, 1947 in Butler County, KY, the daughter of the late Chalmer Shelton and Clara Henderson Brooks.

After retiring from her occupation as a nurse, she was a Homemaker who enjoyed baking, singing, decorating, watching cooking shows, and working in her flower beds. One of her greatest joys in life was being Mamaw Mary and Nana to her many grandchildren. Her family was very important to her just as she was to them. She attended Potter’s Hope Ministries.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, John Filburn of Leitchfield; children, Linda Johnston (Joey) of Caneyville, Paul Filburn (Jamie) of Leitchfield, and Mikal Floyd (Jason) of Clarkson; grandchildren, Josh (Kaylin) Ciara (Dylan), Ashton(Aaron), Hope (Aaron), Bryce (Chandra), Conner (Kelly), Jackson (Haleigh), and Mason; great-grandchildren, Brooks, Sadie, Baylor, Eleanor, Tom Tom, Jax, Boston, Maibry, Lawren, Garrison and two on the way, Jude and Jhett; sister, Charlotte “Nuddie” Bratcher of Clarkson; and a special niece, Katie. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Sue Hayes and a niece, Elizabeth Ann Jennings.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, (February 7, 2025) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Wayne Clemons will be officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Union (Welches Creek) Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and
from 9:00 a.m. Friday until time of services.
