Steve Votaw has announced his intention to run for 3rd District Magistrate on the Republican ticket in the May 2018 Primary Election.
Votaw says he has been the Taking Kids Outdoors secretary for the last two years, and is vice president of the Leitchfield Lions Club. He’s also been a missionary with Baptist Medical Dental Missions International.
Votaw said he worked with Bel Brands in bringing the Harlem Ambassadors to town for the employees and community.
Votaw is a member of the Kentucky Baptist Emergency Response Team, and instructor for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Hunter Education program.
He said he has volunteered the last four years at the Kentucky State Fair, providing free Eye Screenings. Votaw additionally worked on three Repair Affairs, has volunteered two of the last three years at Rack Ride, and worked with the Lions Club at Art in the Park for three years.
Votaw also noted that he helped facilitate an outdoor ramp for Wings on a Prayer, and coached Upwards Basketball at First Baptist Church for two years. He is ending his second three year term on the Building and Grounds Committee at First Baptist Church (where he’s a member), and he’s a member of the Kentucky Baptist Emergency Response Team.
Votaw says that he enjoys working with and for his community, and that if he can help people with issues they may have, he will do his best.
He’s been married to his wife Cavaline for 13 years. They have two sons and eight grandchildren.
