A Leitchfield home has been heavily damaged by a fire.

The Leitchfield Fire and Police Departments, EMS, Grayson Co. Emergency Management, and the Grayson Co. Sheriff’s Office responded to the fire in the 100 block of Goff Drive Friday morning at approximately 12:45.

Leitchfield Police Officers Wally Ritter and Tamara Jupin were the first to arrive at the scene, and both officers offered updates to en route firefighters on the status and location of the occupants and the progression of the fire.

Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found fire coming from the roof of the residence, as some firefighters entered the home and battled the blaze from inside while others fought the fire from outside the residence.

While the blaze was primarily contained to the attic area between the ceiling and roof, the entire residence suffered heavy damage, Leitchfield Fire Chief Tim Duvall said.

Duvall said the fire was likely caused by an electrical issue.

Following a thorough overhaul of the home, firefighters cleared the scene at 3:07 a.m.

There were no injuries reported.
