A suspect thought to be responsible for a series of thefts, attempted thefts and burglaries in Ohio County on Saturday has been arrested after police responded to a trespassing complaint.
The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the call at approximately 4:45 Sunday afternoon in the 10000 block of Rochester Road after a male was seen trespassing near a vehicle that was “hung up in a field nearby.”
When deputies arrived in the area, they spotted 31-year-old Joshua S. Minton, of Owensboro, walking on Rochester Road. Police then discovered a stolen 2011 Honda CRV stuck in a field.
The vehicle, the sheriff’s office said, was stolen out of Beaver Dam, as police “located several stolen items inside.”
The vehicle was believed to have been used in a string of burglaries and thefts throughout Saturday night in the Beaver Dam, Hartford and Centertown.
“In conjunction with the burglaries and thefts Mr. Minton had also attempted to break into several different residences in various parts of the county,” according to the sheriff’s office.
Minton was arrested and charged with two counts of receiving stolen property (more than $1,000, less than $10,000), second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, four counts of third-degree criminal trespassing, and two counts of theft of motor vehicle registration plate.
He was lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center on two bonds totaling $25,000.
Additional charges are pending from the Beaver Dam Police Department.
