A juvenile ejected from a vehicle after striking a rock embankment has died.

Kentucky State Police said troopers responded to the crash Sunday morning at 11:00 near the 59-mile marker of westbound I-64 in Franklin County.

The state police investigation showed that a 2017 Toyota Highlander, being driven by Earl Ragland, was traveling west on I-64 when the Highlander collided with a 2020 Toyota Corolla, sending the Highlander off the road and into a rock embankment.

A 16-year-old male juvenile from Fayette County was ejected from the vehicle, state police said. He was transported to Frankfort Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased by the Franklin County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing.
