A popular business owner in Falls of Rough has been seriously injured after being struck by a car.
Grayson County Deputy Joel Baker, the Falls of Rough Fire Department and EMS responded to the accident Wednesday night at approximately 5:30 in the 11300 block of Falls of Rough Road (Hwy 79).
Witnesses told police that 58-year-old Chris Tanner, of Falls of Rough and owner of Tanner’s Automotive, had been standing in the southbound lane of the roadway wearing a reflective vest as he was assisting a motorist pulling a camper back out of an icy driveway.
Tanner was waving a flashlight facing northbound traffic, according to the sheriff’s office, when a southbound 2003 Honda Civic, being driven by 36-year-old Michale Biskup, of Falls of Rough, struck Tanner. Biskup told police he did not see him.
The impact propelled Tanner over the hood and into the windshield of the Honda before he fell off the vehicle and onto the roadway.
Tanner, who suffered severe injuries to his lower extremities, was transported by EMS to the Rough River State Park Airport where he was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital. He’s listed in serious condition.
The sheriff’s office said “no charges were immediately filed; however, toxicology results are pending.”
