A man who fled police trying to serve an arrest warrant has been shot by a Hancock County deputy.

Kentucky State Police said investigators responded to the shooting Tuesday at approximately 4:00 in the 100 block of River Street in Hawesville.

The investigation revealed that Lewisport Police Department officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant on 60-year-old Carl P. Newhard, Lewisport, when he fled in a vehicle, state police said.
