Police in Boone County rescued a woman who fell through the ice while retrieving her dogs.
The Florence Police Department and Boone County Sheriff’s Office responded to 26 Rio Grande Circle on the report of a woman falling through the ice on a lake behind a condominium Sunday night at approximately 6:30.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a female in the icy water about 100 feet from the shore.
“The officers on scene were able to crawl out onto the frozen lake and pull her out of the water …,” according to the Florence PD.
Police said the woman was in the water for about 10 minutes.
She was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where she was treated and later released. The woman’s two dogs were also rescued from the lake “and have made a full recovery,” police said.
