A man shot by multiple Owensboro officers has been released from the hospital and charged after threatening his sister and her children with a knife.
The investigation showed that officers responded to a 911 call regarding a domestic disturbance. Upon arriving at the home, police encountered 21-year-old Marcello C. Johnson, of Owensboro.
“Johnson was in the kitchen of his sister’s residence holding a knife, refusing to leave and making threats toward his sister and her children,” according to state police.
After Johnson ignored commands to drop the weapon, state police said 33-year-old Owensboro officer Michael C. Johnson and 49-year-old Sgt. Anthony Williams, fired their weapons, striking Marcello Johnson.
The suspect was transported to Owensboro Health but was recently released.
He was charged with first-degree unlawful imprisonment, fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), menacing, and resisting arrest and lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center on a $250,000 cash bond.
