A man accused of shooting a Breckinridge County deputy was arrested in a hunting blind.
Breckinridge County Sheriff Billy Richardson revealed details relating to the arrest of 53-year-old Julio Morales Ceballos on Sunday afternoon following the suspect shooting a deputy on Saturday evening.
“As deputies arrived at the residence, the subject fired, striking two cruisers. One of the BCSO deputies was struck and received non-life-threatening injuries. The subject then fled the residence, believed to be armed, into an adjacent wooded area,” Richardson said.
The sheriff’s office requested Kentucky State Police to assist in the search for Ceballos, as the Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force and Hardinsburg and Irvington Police Departments also joined in the manhunt.
Officials used drones, the KSP Aviation Branch and help from trail cameras to locate Ceballos, who was discovered in a hunting blind “in a remote location off Janacek Road,” Richardson said (Janacek Lane runs off Hwy 2779, about eight miles northwest of Hardinsburg).
He was arrested without further incident.
“After being placed under arrest,” Richardson said, “Ceballos was transported to the highway by way of a rescue ATV where he was turned over to the custody of the state police.”
It’s unclear where Ceballos is being held.
