The Grayson County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Job Fair on Wednesday at the Centre on Main.
The timing could not be more fortuitous with the recent announcement that Bel Brands is closing its Leitchfield plant after over 50 years of operation, leaving approximately 300 people unemployed. The Job Fair, though, is for anyone seeking employment or new employment opportunities as well as anyone who desires to investigate new career pathways.
“This Job Fair will provide an opportunity for affected workers to connect directly with potential employers, discover new career paths, and access resources during a challenging transition,” the Chamber told K105. “This Job Fair is not only open to those of Bel Brands but also to the entire community that may be looking for employment or a career change opportunity.”
The Job Fair is not only intended to offer residents a chance to explore new job opportunities, but it will also provide local companies with an introduction to individuals who may bolster productivity and improve workforces.
“For local employers, it’s a chance to meet skilled individuals, showcase job openings, and strengthen their workforce with motivated people from our community,” the Chamber said. “Many of our community members might not realize all of the opportunities available right here in their backyard.”
The event will take place at twice on Wednesday: From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and again from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Centre on Main is at 425 South Main Street in Leitchfield.
“The Grayson County Chamber of Commerce works to be a community agency that helps to develop a better workforce, drive economic development,” the Chamber said, “and make Grayson County a great place to live and work.”
