There will be no rest for the cold and snow weary as Grayson County is once again being placed under a Winter Storm Watch beginning early Friday morning.
The National Weather Service (NWS) said “moderate to heavy snow is possible. Snow accumulation within the watch area of four to five inches with locally higher amounts possible” is anticipated.
The Winter Storm Watch goes into effect Friday morning at 3:00.
As of early Wednesday morning, the snow is expected to arrive in the region Friday morning at around 6:00, with the greatest chance of snow during the mid-afternoon hours, according to the NWS.
The temperature, while no longer predicted to dip into single digits, will be bitterly cold as the low on Friday is expected to be 19 degrees (the low on Thursday is predicted to be 11 degrees).
Grayson County Emergency Management Director Carey Sims said the Warming Center at the National Guard Armory will remain open until 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. After that point, the Warming Center will operate on a “need requests” basis.
