Evelyn Rhea Fentress Pryor, age 97, of Leitchfield, KY passed away peacefully Friday, (December 13, 2024) at Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation in Leitchfield, KY, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 31, 1927 in Falls of Rough, KY, the daughter of the late Walter L. and Rhea Edwards Fentress. She graduated from Caneyville High School and pursued higher education at Western Kentucky University.
On June 14, 1947, Evelyn married Thomas D. Pryor. Married for 67 years, Evelyn and Tom built a life, raising their two daughters, Regina and Benna, and creating a close-knit family that continues to grow.
Evelyn was a retired schoolteacher and homemaker who lived a life devoted to her family and faith. She found joy in gardening, canning, and quilting and she shared a love of scripture as a Sunday school teacher and small group Bible study leader. A longtime member of the Clinton Street Church of Christ, she was a guiding light to her family and those who knew her.
Evelyn cherished time spent with her loved ones, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Regina Lee (Bill) and Benna O’Brien; her grandchildren, Tyra Alexander, Tori Robinson (Doug), Karrah Pearl, and Jason Pearl; and her great-grandchildren, Ella Robinson, Will Alexander, Luke Roehm, Hayden Robinson, and Jake Pearl. She is also survived by her sister, Shirley Haycraft; and sister- in- law, Linda Fulkerson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas D. Pryor and her brother, Walter Earl Fentress.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, (December 20, 2024) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Mark Claypool will be officiating. A private burial will be held.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. Friday until time of services.
