A Hardin County couple has been accused of starving a child.
The Radcliff Police Department arrested 33-year-old Whitney C. Young and the child’s father, 32-year-old Joshua Inman, both of Radcliff, last week after a concerned relative took the five-year-old child to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville, according to The News-Enterprise.
Upon police being notified, investigators found the child had suffered abuse, likely for several months, and was severely malnourished.
The child remains hospitalized.
During a search of the couple’s home, police found drugs and evidence of drug trafficking.
Both suspects were arrested and lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center. Inman was charged with first-degree criminal abuse of a child (victim under the age of 12), possession of a controlled substance (hallucinogen), trafficking in marijuana, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Young was charged with first-degree criminal abuse of a child (victim under the age of 12). She was released after posting a $5,000 bond.
