The first lottery to determine the location of medical cannabis dispensaries was held on Monday at the Kentucky Lottery Corporation in Louisville.
The lottery randomly selected 36 applicants for nine of the dispensary regions, including the Region 9 Lincoln Trail region comprised of Adair, Breckinridge, Grayson, Green, Hardin, Hart, LaRue, Marion, Meade, Nelson, Taylor, and Washington counties.
The four selected medical cannabis dispensary businesses are in Hardin County, and are as follows:
- Barrio Capital Partners LLC – Elizabethtown
- Thoroughtrek LLC – Radcliff
- NGHKC – Eastview
- Wynn Win LLC – Elizabethtown
The businesses have 15 days to pay licensing fees. Once those fees are paid, the Kentucky Office of Medical Cannabis will issue a license.
A second license lottery for dispensaries will occur on December 16. The regions that will be selected are Region 1: Bluegrass, Region 1: Fayette County only, Region 2: Kentuckiana and Region 2: Jefferson County only.
Medical cannabis becomes legal in Kentucky on January 1, 2025.
