3-year-old girl accidentally shoots and kills herself, father charged with manslaughter

A father has been arrested after his three-year-old girl accidentally shot and killed herself.

Louisville Metro Police arrested 29-year-old E’Monta Goss, of Louisville, on Thursday after his toddler, Aubree Goss, accidentally shot herself after finding a gun that was hidden underneath a couch, according to a report by WAVE.com.

The child was transported to Norton Children’s Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The incident occurred Thursday morning in the 5500 block of Overbrook Woods Place, off Bardstown Road near the Fern Creek area of Jefferson County.

E’Monta Goss told police that he placed a loaded handgun under the couch and then took a nap before waking up to the sound of a gunshot.

He was arrested and charged with second-degree manslaughter and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and lodged in Louisville Metro Corrections.
