A Brownsville woman has been selected as a Homecoming queen candidate at WKU.
Kaylee Russell, who graduated from Edmonson County High School in 2021, was one of 41 WKU students nominated for the honor of being the 2024 Homecoming queen. She is sponsored by College of Education and Behavioral Sciences Ambassadors, according to WKU.
Russell graduated from Edmonson Co. High School with a 4.0 grade point average. She is an English for Secondary Teachers major at WKU.
Russell is the daughter of Chad Russell and Brandy Meredith.
The 2024 queen will be crowned Saturday, Nov. 16, during halftime of the WKU vs. Louisiana Tech football game at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium. Kickoff is set for 11:00 a.m.
This year’s Homecoming theme is “Roaring Red.”
Queen candidates, according to WKU, will participate in several activities during Homecoming Week, including a fall social on Sunday (Nov. 10), an interview on Tuesday (Nov. 12), a banquet on Wednesday (Nov. 13), and volunteer experience and the Homecoming parade/Big Red’s Roar on Friday (Nov. 15).
Students will cast their votes for queen in online balloting on Monday, Nov. 11.
