A man arrested after a manhunt near Glendale fled police at 130 miles per hour on I-65, according to Kentucky State Police.

As K105 reported Friday morning, 26-year-old Jecore King, of Eight Mile, Alabama, was arrested Thursday night at approximately 7:00 near Glendale after he fled a traffic stop in Hart County at approximately 4:00 Thursday afternoon.

KSP said in a press release that a trooper was conducting speed enforcement on I-65 north near the 61-mile marker when the trooper stopped a Dodge Challenger for speeding.

After making contact with King, the trooper asked him to step out of the vehicle after the trooper “smelled the possible presence of marijuana in the car.”

“After asking Mr. King to step outside the vehicle, a struggle ensued before King returned to the car and fled from the trooper northbound on I-65,” state police said.

During the pursuit, King passed vehicles in the emergency lane as he reached speeds of 130 mph, state police said. Near the 85-mile marker, the Dodge left the roadway and struck an embankment. King fled on foot with a handgun as he ran into a cornfield adjacent to the interstate.

A perimeter was established with the assistance of the Elizabethtown Police Department and the Hardin Co. Sheriff’s Office.

After nearly three hours, and with the assistance of the Elizabethtown Police Department’s Special Response Team and KSP’s aircraft branch, King was located and arrested without incident and lodged in the Hardin Co. Detention Center.

He was charged with multiple counts of felony wanton endangerment, resisting arrest, two counts of fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle, on foot), speeding 26 mph or more over the limit, possession of marijuana, failure to maintain insurance, and no registration plates.

The case remains under investigation.
