A manhunt for an allegedly armed suspect who fought with a Kentucky State Police trooper ended in the suspect’s arrest near Glendale.

The incident began at approximately 4:00 Thursday afternoon near the 61-mile marker in Hart County when a trooper stopped a vehicle on I-65 north. The male driver, 26-year-old Jecore M. King, of Eight Mile, Alabama, and the trooper began fighting, with the suspect fleeing the scene in his vehicle north on I-65.

Multiple agencies joined the pursuit, including officers from the Elizabethtown Police Department, according to Elizabethtown PD Public Affairs Office Chris Denham, as well as the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.

The pursuit ended near the 85-mile marker near Glendale in Hardin County when King crashed and ran into a cornfield.

I-65 was partially shut down, along with other roadways in the Glendale area, as police searched for King. Law enforcement used helicopters and drones in the search for the suspect.

At 7:00 Thursday night, it was announced that the suspect had been captured. He was arrested by Kentucky State Police.

King is being held in the Hardin County Detention Center where he’s been charged with felony wanton endangerment, resisting arrest, two counts of fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle, on foot), speeding 26 mph or more over the limit, possession of marijuana, failure to maintain insurance, and no registration plates.
