Margaret Henrietta Poteet, age 89, of Leitchfield, KY passed away Saturday, (October 19, 2024) at Grayson Manor Nursing & Rehab in Leitchfield.
She was born on March 23, 1935 in Grayson County, KY, the daughter of the late Jess and Nellie Dehart Hazelwood.
She retired from the dietary department of Owensboro Health Twin Lakes (formerly Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center) and enjoyed flowers, going to church, talking on the phone with friends, spending time outdoors and with family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Leitchfield.
She is survived by her children, Charlene Buster of Leitchfield, Danny Ray Stewart (Melissa) of Stanwood, Washington, Mary Lindsey (Roger) also of Leitchfield; six grandchildren, Daniel, Richard, Meagan, & Scott Jonathan Stewart, Billy Joe & Stuart Belcher; nine great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and Charlene’s father, Charles Buster; her second husband and Danny & Mary’s father, Lloyd Stewart; third husband Walter Poteet; three brothers, Cecil, Junior & Shelby Hazelwood; and Lucille Hill. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, (October 27, 2024) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Doug King will be officiating. Burial will be in the Eveleigh Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. Sunday until time of services.
