A three-year-old child has died after his father “failed to yield the right of way” to a dump truck.

Kentucky State Police responded to the crash Friday morning at approximately 7:50 at the intersection of Hwy 192 and Boggs Road in London.

The investigation showed that a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe, being driven by 29-year-old Christopher E. Russell, of London, “failed to yield the right of way and struck a 2006 Volvo dump truck,” state police said.

Russell and his three-year-old son, Ezekiel Russell, were extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to University of Kentucky Medical Center. Ezekiel died on Saturday.

The driver of the dump truck, 55-year-old Merle V. Gumm, of Corbin, was not injured.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Trooper Logon Mallory.
