Brandon Lance Whitman, age 43, of Leitchfield, KY passed away Monday, (October 14, 2024) at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. He was born on April 25, 1981 in Elizabethtown, KY.
Brandon, or “BB” to many, enjoyed woodworking, guns, art, and music. He loved to draw and ride his motorcycle. One of his favorite obsessions was watching his boy, Khade, play football and being BB to all the kids. He was saved as a young boy at Antioch General Baptist Church.
Brandon was also very proud of his time spent in the Marines.
He is survived by his wife, Shi Whitman of Leitchfield; sons, Chase Whitman (Tiffany) of Radcliff and Khade Whitman of Leitchfield; his parents, Regina and Pat Carby of Leitchfield and Melvin Whitman (Dana) of Elizabethtown; one brother, Chad Whitman (Melissa) of Bowling Green; one sister, Caressa King (Levi) of Leitchfield; niece, Ava; nephews; Justin, Trevor, Chevy, Gunner and Creed; his in-laws, Leandra, Tasha, Calvin and Jullian; his bonus boys, Levi and Carson; and his special buds, Luther, David and Nik. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Tyler Whitman, grandparents, Edgar “Peewee” and Mary Alice Powell, Bob and Imogene Whitman, Wavely and Leona Carby and his uncle, Kevin Powell.
Brandon’s family would like to extend a big thank you to all his doctors, nurses, and medical staff at IU and Duke. They would also like to show their awareness of organ donation and its importance. “Due to organ donation we were able to have our ‘BB’ for 6 more years.”
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, (October 20th, 2024) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Tommy Pendergest and Bro. Garry Watkins will be officiating. Burial will be in the Claggett Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. Sunday until time of services.
