A three-year-old girl was pulled from a massive residential fire that will likely result in multiple deaths.

Firefighters and the Carrollton Police Department responded to the blaze at approximately 6:00 Thursday morning at 209 5th Street in Carrollton.

Police arrived on the scene first, with officers entering the fully engulfed two-story residence and pulling a toddler out of the fire.

“The officers were able to extract one juvenile female, approximately 3 years old, from the residence,” Carrollton PD Public Affairs Officer Dave Roberts said in a briefing on the fire. “That female was taken to the Carroll County Memorial Hospital and has since been transferred to UofL.”

The toddler, Roberts said, had collapsed and was lying near the back door of the home.

The intense fire caused the residence to collapse on itself.

At least one person has been confirmed deceased, with officials saying it’s likely others were in the residence.

“Kentucky Utility has some vehicles down the that’s going to help remove some of the debris so we can get in there and get a better look at what’s inside the residence,” Roberts said during the briefing.

It’s unclear how the fire started.

The Carrollton Police Department, Kentucky State Police and state Fire Marshal’s Office are leading the investigation.
