Multiple first responders converged on Caneyville Tuesday night to search for a missing teenager.

The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Caneyville Fire Department and Grayson Co. Emergency Management (GCEM) were dispatched at approximately 6:20 to Hunt Road to search for a 14-year-old boy who had been missing for about 30 minutes.

After not finding the teen following an approximately hour-long search, the Falls of Rough Department was dispatched to the scene followed by several other agencies, including Kentucky State Police, Hardin County Emergency Management, the Breckinridge Co. Sheriff’s Office, and Hart County Emergency Management.

GCEM launched a drone, as finding the teenager quickly was made even more vital as temperatures were forecast to fall into the low 30s overnight. Additionally, the teen was wearing only blue jeans, a shirt and cap. It was initially reported that he did not have shoes on.

The teen, though, was located in a wooded area at around 8:30 p.m. He was cold, but otherwise safe and uninjured, according to GCEM.

Not all the agencies dispatched to the scene arrived prior to the teenager being found.

GCEM Director Carey Sims said finding the teenager was a “group effort.”
