A Madisonville man has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend’s two-month-old baby.
The Madisonville Police Department arrested 22-year-old Anthony M. Paige and charged him with killing the infant.
Police responded on the morning of October 2 to an apartment on Couch Street in Madisonville on the report of the baby not breathing, according to WFIE.com. The infant was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died on Saturday.
Paige was charged after a Tennessee medical examiner said the baby had a brain hemorrhage as well as an optic nerve hemorrhage. Additionally, there was blood in the baby’s ears and bruising on the back of his head.
It was determined that the infant died of blunt force trauma.
The baby’s mother was at work when the fatal abuse occurred.
Paige was arrested on Monday and charged with domestic violence murder and lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center on a $1 million cash bond.
