Three people have died in a medical helicopter crash in Owen County.
Kentucky State Police and other first responders responded to the crash Monday night at approximately 5:30 near Hwy 22, near Owen County High School.
Upon arriving at the scene, authorities determined that an Air Evac flight with three people on board crashed as the aircraft was en route to pick up a patient, according to state police.
The victims have been identified as Gale Alleman, Bethany Aicken and James Welsh. All three were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Owen County Coroner’s Office.
The crew was based out of Grant County.
Kentucky State Police is conducting the death investigation. The helicopter crash investigation is being conducted by the National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration.
