Reverend Rudd Allen Kerr Sr., 87, of Leitchfield, KY, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on October 3, 2024 at Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation in Leitchfield, KY. He was a Grayson County native, born on February 2, 1937 to the late William Carlos and Fonta Bell Hartley Kerr.

Rudd Sr. was a passionate God fearing man with conviction and drive that led him to many wonderful opportunities to serve the Lord and his community. He worked at General Electric before opening Kerr’s Men Shop in 1966. He later purchased The E.E. Fentress Insurance Agency and transitioned it into Rudd A. Kerr Agency in 1972. He pastored several churches in Grayson and surrounding counties, led many revivals, and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Oakland City University.

He accepted Jesus into his heart as a young boy and was called to preach at the age of 14. For 50 plus years, he was a member of First General Baptist Church of Leitchfield. He was an integral member of the General Baptist Association in Poplar Bluff, MO and served in leadership roles throughout his years of service.  He was also a member of the Free Union Association; however, a current member of the Green River Union Association.

He is survived by wife, Darlene Vincent Kerr of 66 years; son, Rudd Kerr Jr. (Shelly) of Elizabethtown, KY; daughter, Sheri Huff (Anthony) of Louisville, KY. Two sisters, Peggy Brooks (Buddy) of Leitchfield, KY and Carlene Mathews of Cypress, Texas. Two grandchildren, Karsyn Kerr (Brandon Crabtree) of Elizabethtown, KY and Jarrett Kerr of Elizabethtown, KY. Many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Danny and Travis Kerr; sister, Temple Ruth; grandson, Matthew Huff; and granddaughter, Tiffany Huff.

The funeral service for Rudd Sr. will be on Monday, October 14th at 11:00am in the chapel of Dermitt Funeral Home with the burial in the Kerr Landis Family Cemetery in Leitchfield, KY.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 13th from 2-7 pm (CDT) and on Monday from 9 am until time of service at Dermitt Funeral Home.
