A baby hospitalized last week in central Kentucky has died after being physically abused.
The Fayette County Coroner’s Office told WKYT.com that three-month-old Greyson Torres died on Wednesday at Kentucky Children’s Hospital. The coroner said the baby died as a “result of intentional physical abuse.”
The death was ruled a homicide.
The parents, 20-year-old Kaela B. Walker and 20-year-old Amancio Torres-Trevino Jr., both of Lexington, were arrested a day prior to their baby dying and were initially charged with first-degree criminal abuse (victim under the age of 12). With the death of the baby, prosecutors are expected to upgrade the charges.
Torres-Trevino is accused of committing the abuse on September 29 at a residence on Alumni Drive. Walker, according to police, failed to report the abuse.
Both suspects were lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center on $100,000 cash bonds.
