Melvin Edgar “Mel” White Jr., 64, of Sweeden passed away Sept. 29, 2024 at UK Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington.
The Valdosta, GA native was a US Army veteran who served in the 509th Infantry and as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. He was a son of the late Melvin Edgar White Sr. and Algia Raulerson White. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sonya.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Gravil Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Wiser Mann White; three sons, Eric White of Ohio and Robert White and Bret White both of Sweeden; two daughters, Kristin White and Katie Allen both of Ohio; a brother, Jimmy White of Georgia; and six grandchildren.
