A truck driver who struck and killed a tow truck driver on a Kentucky interstate was watching YouTube at the time of the crash, according to police.

The incident occurred Wednesday at approximately 5:20 p.m. near the 124-mile marker of I-64 in Bath County.

As K105 previously reported, Kentucky State Police said its investigation determined that 54-year-old Troy Caldwell, of Morehead, was loading a vehicle onto a rollback when he was struck by a tractor-trailer.

Caldwell was pronounced deceased at the scene by Bath County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation also resulted in police arresting the semi driver, 29-year-old Shodmon Yuldashev, of Brooklyn, New York, and charging him with tampering with physical evidence.

WLEX.com reports that, according to the arrest citation, the suspect attempted to conceal his “ELD or Electronic Log Device” on the truck’s dashboard. Several troopers allegedly observed the electronic device “actively playing YouTube.”

The citation, according to WLEX.com, further states, Yuldashev was “watching YouTube on his ELD Tablet with a tablet mounted on the center of the dash visible to the driver.”

Yuldashev was lodged in the Rowan County Detention Center but is no longer listed as an inmate.
