Grayson and surrounding counties are under two weather-related watches.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has placed Grayson County under a Flood Watch from Thursday evening at 7:00 into Saturday morning.

“Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations,” according to the NWS. “Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded.”

Forecasted rainfall amounts range from three to five inches with some areas receiving up to six inches of rainfall. Grayson County is expected to receive 2.85 inches of rainfall over the next 24 hours, according to the NWS.

The county will also be under a Wind Advisory as of Friday morning at 6:00 until Saturday at 1:00 a.m.

Winds speeds, the NWS said, will be between 15 and 25 miles per hour with gusts between 35 and 45 miles per hour.

Residents should anticipate gusty winds potentially causing power outages. Winds could also bring trees down and blow tree limbs and unsecured items around.
