A Leitchfield man accused of trying to kill a woman in a domestic violence incident has been indicted.

Guy M. Schmitzerle, 58, was indicted earlier this month by a Grayson County Grand Jury on a charge of attempted murder (domestic violence).

The indictment comes after Schmitzerle allegedly shot into a vehicle containing a female on the evening of July 31, 2024, on Claggett Road. The female left the area and traveled to the Leitchfield Police Department where she reported the shooting.

Police located and arrested Schmitzerle at the Claggett Road residence where the shooting took place.

He is lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

As K105 reported at the time, Schmitzerle was jailed on October 3, 2020, after police found thousands of dollars’ worth of marijuana on his property.

He was arrested two other times in October 2020, according to online records, where he faced charges including, fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), first-degree disorderly conduct, third-degree criminal mischief, menacing, and second-degree disorderly conduct.
